ABOUT THIS COURSE

Gain an overview of the principles and processes in Construction Management.

The Undergraduate Certificate in Construction Management concentrates on key foundational learning that underpins professional knowledge while providing an introduction to broader study skills and approaches. The program has a strong sustainability focus that flows through the individual courses providing an understanding of and mitigation against the impacts of modern construction. General construction techniques, law and the fundamentals of construction practice are the specific areas of attention.

The Australian construction industry is massive and continues to grow – over the past five years, employment in the NSW construction industry has increased by 11%. The industry employs more than 1 million people, accounting for around 9% of the country’s total workforce and contributes about 7.8% of Australia’s gross domestic product (GDP).

COURSE STRUCTURE

Completed over one semester full time, you’ll study undergraduate level courses construction management and related fields. View our handbook for a full list of core and directed courses.

You’ll receive guaranteed entry into the Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours).

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the program students will have:

  • A fundamental knowledge of the construction industry, the environment and social processes that inform and contribute to social practice
  • Foundation-level skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders (and members of construction teams to facilitate project delivery).
  • Foundation-level skills to enable them to work effectively both independently and collaboratively (in interdisciplinary and multi-professional environments and teams).
  • Basic mathematics and research skills relevant to the construction industry
